Grief Retreat

Join Death Doulas & Grief Facilitators Tree Carr and Rachael Carter for a transformative four-day journey of healing and renewal in the serene landscapes of The Dreaming.

Your Journey

Embark on a transformative, healing journey through grief with renowned Death Doulas Tree Carr and Rachael Carter. This four-day retreat is a sanctuary for those navigating the profound emotions of loss, grief, and bereavement, offering a compassionate, nurturing space to honour your personal journey.

Set against the backdrop of The Dreaming’s serene and sacred landscape, the retreat integrates a person-centred approach with nature, meditation, art therapy, dreamwork, and sacred rituals. Each session is designed to help you reconnect with yourself and the natural world, guiding you through the profound processes of reflection, renewal, reconciliation, and rebirth.

Over the course of the retreat, Tree Carr will guide you through introspective exercises, emotional expression, creativity, and ritual, offering tools to process your grief on a deep, personal level.

Rachael Carter will support your journey of self-nurturance, helping you rest from the weight of grief and find clarity and inner guidance on your path to healing. Together, they create a compassionate and sacred space, allowing participants to express grief freely and without judgment.

This retreat is not just a time to grieve, but an opportunity to heal, reset, and renew. With ample time for personal reflection and immersion in nature, you’ll be able to fully embrace the beauty and tranquillity of the Welsh landscape.

Each element of the retreat is thoughtfully designed to support your emotional journey, offering both community support and solitude as needed.

Join us and let nature, ritual, and connection guide you through your grief toward healing and renewal.

The Nurturer Guest, 2024

“I knew my time at The Dreaming would be a wonderful break in stunning surroundings but I was not prepared for it to be life changing. You leave The Dreaming wondering, "Was I dreaming?" but thankfully, it's all real.”

- Kiri Pritchard McLean

The Location

Nestled in the heart of the Elan Valley, Wales. Our retreat offers a serene and rejuvenating environment, away from busy work life, whatever the weather.

Set within forty seven glorious acres of ancient land, The Dreaming is a rural wonder which offers true serenity and blissful tranquility. Once a 15th century Cistercian monastery, this fabulous property passed through Georgian and Victorian aristrocratic families to the designer Laura Ashley and her family in the 20th century.

Laura Ashley directed her multinational interior design company from Rhydoldog House and then, in 2020, our founder Charlotte Church, with the help of talented collaborators, reimagined, refurbished and reconfigured it.

Accommodation

Luxurious rooms with modern amenities awaits you, each designed by award winning designers to provide comfort and tranquility.

Each rooms interior reflect our passion for other cultures. Natural materials and tactile draping create den-like spaces, whilst original floorboards and textured walls give coherence and a cosseting feel to the seven rooms, each with its own distinct name and character.

The essence of connection thrives through our shared rooms. Our distinctive approach assigns beds individually rather than by room, encouraging meaningful interactions with fellow guests.

Embracing shared living is ingrained in The Dreaming’s values, creating an environment where bonds flourish.
